On the heels of a freshman season where he averaged 11.9 points per game, it appears that North Carolina men’s basketball guard Ian Jackson is on the move. The Bronx native has entered the NCAA transfer portal this week after a single season in Chapel Hill. With that in mind, BetCarolina.com broke down the odds on where Jackson will suit up next, with a hometown connection atop our list.

Where Will Ian Jackson Play Next?

A year ago, the eighth ranked recruit in the nation (per 247 Sports) chose UNC over Arkansas, Kentucky, LSU and Oregon. Now the Razorbacks and Wildcats look like solid potential landing spots in 2025 for Jackson, the former five-star guard out of Our Savior Lutheran School in New York City.

At the top of the list is a program that Jackson didn’t consider out of high school, however. But now the St. John’s Red Storm, under head coach Rick Pitino, lands on our top spot for the guard this go-round, at +110 odds. That would translate to nearly even money – to be exact, a 47.7% implied probability – with operators offering real money NC sportsbook promo codes.

St. John’s, the Big East regular-season and tournament winners in 2024-25, look to build on that conference championship form next season.

Trailing the Red Storm are the Razorbacks and national champion Florida Gators, with the SEC rivals co-listed at +700. Another SEC program, Kentucky, joins another pack of Wildcats from Villanova with +1250 odds to round out our odds board for Jackson, an all-ACC freshman team selection this year.

For now, there’s no denying that the allure of coming home will likely be strong for the rising sophomore out of the Bronx; we’ll see if his future school gets a futures odds boost at North Carolina sportsbook apps. Jackson could have the opportunity to play for one of the sport’s luminaries this fall, looking to help St. John’s build on this year’s standout 31-5 campaign in the Big Apple.
