How the Florida Gators Won 2025 March Madness

Florida's roster was ready for a good run, and it showed up when they absolutely needed it, running through the NCAA Tournament, and completing the path to becoming the 2025 National Champions.

Florida finished the season ranked third in NCAA in points per game, averaging 84.8 points. They did this despite ranking 45th in field-goal shooting percentage, including 82nd from beyond the arc. To compensate for this, the Gators were stingy on defense, ranking 12th in opponent field-goal shooting percentage, including fifth on defending the three-point shot.

At 36-4 on the regular season, the Gators were one of the favorites to win the Southeastern Conference—and the National Championship.

Floridan routed Norfolk State 91-52 in the tournament's first game, edged out the previous champion UConn 77-75 to advance to the Sweet 16, and demolished Maryland 87-71 to advance to the Elite Eight. Then, they took down Texas Tech 84-79 to give themselves a spot in the Final Four. Florida then ousted Auburn 79-73 in the Final Four before rallying to stun the Cougars 65-63 in the 2025 National Championship.

The defending National Champions were led by head coach Todd Golden and senior guards Walter Clayton Jr., Alijah Martin, and Will Richard, all of whom are three potential NBA stars, along with potential first-round draft pick Alex Condon.

  • March Madness Futures March Madness futures are fun to play because they allow you options to bet on a variety of teams. If you have a few long-shot teams and one or two of them make it to the Sweet 16 or Elite Eight, you have great hedging opportunities. Or you can bet on second-tier contenders, like Marquette and Illinois.
  • March Madness Spreads March Madness spreads are exciting because they are available on every game. You are betting on which team will cover the spread, not win the game outright, so even a No. 16 seed has a chance to cover against a No. 1 seed, for example.
  • March Madness Props March Madness prop bets allow you to bet on specific things for players in games, such as how many rebounds or points a player will have. You can bet on Purdue's Zach Edey to go over/under 17.5 points, for example. This allows bettors to exploit certain matchups within the game.
  • March Madness Bracket Challenges March Madness bracket challenges are a fun way to get a little skin in the game. You select the winner of all 63 games of the tournament before it begins and then get to follow along as the tournament rolls along. If you need suggestions for your March Madness bracket names, we've got you covered.
