Mason Miller Trade Odds: Next Landing Spot Projections

Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

One of the biggest surprises of the MLB season across North Carolina sports betting has been the play of young talent like Oakland Athletics rookie closer Mason Miller, who has shined out of the bullpen in the East Bay for a team thatā€™s mired in mediocrity this year.

Miller, who finished his college career at Gardner-Webb, was converted from a starter to a reliever full-time in 2024, with the 25-year-old Pennsylvania native making the 2024 MLB All-Star Game for his work out of the pen.

To date, Miller has amassed 15 saves and a 1.7 WAR across 40.2 innings pitched this season, with a miniscule WHIP of 0.836 and 15.5 strikeouts per nine innings pitched, illustrating the type of talent that led Oakland to draft him out of the North Carolina university in the third round of the 2021 MLB Draft.

As we approach the trade deadline, many teams are interested in trading for the young star. At BetCarolina.com, we developed odds to see where Miller will finish the season. It is important to note that while his name has been popular amongst trade rumors, it is largely thought that he wonā€™t be traded due to the price he commands.

UPDATE: After fracturing his left pinky finger over the weekend, it is largely assumed that Miller will not be traded before the deadline.

Where Does Miller Go Next?

Given the fact that Miller still has two more years before he hits arbitration, itā€™d likely take a kingā€™s ransom to make the Aā€™s move their All-Star closer prior to this yearā€™s July 30 deadline, which is why we list Oakland as a -400 favorite to keep him in town.

Of the outside suitors for Millerā€™s pitching services, the Philadelphia Phillies (+1750) and Baltimore Orioles (+1450) have the best odds overall, with both teams looking to shore up their bullpens ahead of their playoff runs in the NL and AL.

Longshots to make a deal for Miller include the Los Angeles Dodgers at +4050, speaking to the slim shot that the Aā€™s will part with one of the gameā€™s brightest bullpen arms this soon in his professional career.
