Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

Itā€™s just a couple of weeks until Election Day on Nov. 5, 2024. But early voting and mail-in balloting are two voting methods that are also popular, so folks donā€™t even have to wait that long to make their voices heard.

At BetCarolina.com, where we offer the best North Carolina sportsbook promo codes, we also were interested to see which states have people who are most prepared for the election and voting. Using Google Trends, we found and ranked the top 10 states based on search interest score for ā€œWhere do I vote.ā€ The data was found in a 30-day search, between Sept. 22 and Oct. 22, 2024.

North Carolina Eager To Vote

Many media outlets and political pundits have identified North Carolina as a ā€œswing stateā€ for the 2024 presidential election between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. In fact, BetCarolina.com wrote about that topic ā€“ Is North Carolina a swing state ā€“ in August.

In our research, the Tar Heel State topped the list of states with the highest search volume for the query of ā€œwhere do I voteā€ during the time we studied. North Carolina had a search interest score of 100.

Another state thatā€™s considered crucial for the 2024 presidential race is Georgia, and that state is second on our list with a search interest score of 96. Two more Southern states show up on our top 10 as well, with South Carolina (search interest volume of 68) tied for fifth and Tennessee (67) in seventh. All three of those states border North Carolina, showing how important the region is for this yearā€™s election.

But our top 10 states are pretty spread out, with the Midwest well-represented. Iowa is third with a search volume of 77, followed closely by Minnesota (fourth, 74), Indiana (tied for fifth, 68) and Wisconsin (ninth, 61).

Early Voting In North Carolina

BetCarolina.com has a look at the North Carolina Governorā€™s race odds between Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson and Democratic candidate Josh Stein. A reminder: Political betting is not offered at any legal, regulated NC sportsbooks.

The North Carolina State Board of Elections website offers an overview of early voting. Early voting in North Carolina got underway on Oct. 17 for the 2024 general election and it ends Nov. 2, the Saturday before Election Day. You will need a photo ID to vote.

The state also offers same-day registration for those voting early. From the website: ā€œWhen you check in to vote at an early voting site, you may update your name or address within the same county if necessary. Individuals who are not registered to vote in a county may register and immediately vote at that same site.ā€

Voters can also mail in their ballot, which is a method that many citizens find to be convenient. Voters requesting a mail-in absentee ballot in North Carolina can track their ballotā€™s status. Check the Elections Board website link above and, under the ā€œVotingā€ tab, click on ā€œVote By Mailā€ for more information.

Our usual North Carolina sports betting coverage at BetCarolina.com doesnā€™t stop just because weā€™re looking at political issues. For instance, Nov. 5 is the release of the first College Football Playoff rankings, at 7 p.m. Eastern, just as polls are closing on Election Night.
