Spencer Rattler Heisman Odds: South Carolina QB Dark Horse to Win Heisman

South Carolina quarterback Spencer Rattler has been a popular Heisman Trophy candidate in the past, but has yet to remain in the race late in the season. Heading into his 2nd season at South Carolina, Spencer Rattler is among the long list of potential Heisman winners in college football.

Although he did so only once last season – in the opener against Tulane – Rattler has hit the 300-yard passing mark five times in his career. He’s also 5-0 in his career as a starter against ranked opponents.

As a redshirt freshman in 2020, Rattler took home numerous recognitions, including being named National Freshman of the Year by CBS Sports. A first-team All-Big 12 selection and a Freshman All-American, Rattler was a member of the conference’s All-Academic team and a semifinalist for the Davey O’Brien Award, which annually goes to the nation’s top quarterback.
