The Carolina Panthers are headed to Germany next NFL season for the first time in franchise history, joining the six teams that have played in the European nation since the league started hosting regular season contests there in 2022. While we don’t know who Carolina will play, we do know that they’ll compete in Munich at Allianz Arena, which hosted the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Seattle Seahawks in 2022 in front of 68,811 fans. We also know that North Carolina sports betting will be live, and you'll have access to bet on the NFL next season.
Last season, the NFL played two games in Germany (both at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt), with the Kansas City Chiefs beating the Miami Dolphins, 21-14 on Nov. 5, followed by the Indianapolis Colts defeating the New England Patriots, 10-6, on Nov. 12.
In a team press release, Owner David Tepper called the Panthers having an opportunity to play in Germany a win-win for the community and the tea’s fanbase at large.
"It's an honor for the Carolina Panthers to play in Munich in 2024," Tepper said in the press release. "This game represents more than playing internationally for us. With more than 200 German-owned companies in the Charlotte area, this opportunity offers a special connection for the Panthers and our community. We are excited to deepen our relationships with our German fans, engage with our partners, and continue to grow our brand globally."
Who Will The Carolina Panthers Play in NFL Germany Game 2024?
Below are some odds you wouldn't likely find on NC betting apps. Here are our odds of which NFL team the Carolina Panthers could meet in Germany next season.
While we don’t know who Carolina will play yet, we can guess that one of the other teams that previously played in Germany in 2022 or 2023 will be involved, which is part of the reason why the Chiefs are our No. 1 pick, at +200. Other candidates include NFL bellwether the Dallas Cowboys (+350), the Cincinnati Bengals (+450) and the New York Giants (+900) — three teams that have not yet played in the European country.
While we won’t know Carolina’s full schedule for 2024 until the NFL releases its slate on May 11, we can assume that the league will want to put a marquee team in their Central European showcase game. That’s why big market franchises like the Cowboys and Giants are likely to be involved in one of the NFL’s Germany games, while the Bengals would be an interesting choice, coming off a slew of success under head coach Zac Taylor and superstar quarterback Joe Burrow.
When Did NFL Start Playing In Germany?
While the NFL has played regular-season games in London for years, the league’s expansion to Germany began in earnest two years ago, with the Bucs’-Seahawks game in Munich.
Next year, the Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings will serve as “hosts” in the NFL’s London contests, while the Panthers are the only team that’s been unveiled for the league’s contests in Germany. Both are part of the NFL’s International Series, which has also included regular season contests in Mexico City over the years, all of which are a part of the league’s efforts to grow the game globally.
Come this fall, Bryce Young and the Carolina Panthers will be the latest on-field ambassadors for American football, taking their talents across the pond to play in front of a packed house in Munich for the first time in club history.
