Carolina Panthers Among NFL’s Worst Teams in October

Carolina Panthers Among NFL’s Worst Teams in October
Fact Checked by Thomas Leary

It’s been six long years since the Carolina Panthers last tasted the glory that comes from qualifying for the NFL playoffs, a fact not lost on those gearing up for expanded North Carolina sports betting. With the Frank Reich-coached club sitting at 0-3 for the year after Sunday’s 37-27 rout at the hands of the Seattle Seahawks — it’s worth wondering what the month of October has in store for Carolina this season.

With the first month of the NFL season ending, BetCarolina.com utilized StatMuse.com to find the records of every NFL team in October since 2018 to find the best to worst teams during the first month of the NFL season. Note that all teams didn’t participate in the same amount of games, so ranking is based on win percentage.

October Not Kind To Panthers In Recent Years

Since 2018, Carolina has gone 9-13 in October, ranking 23rd out of 32 teams, sandwiched between a handful of teams at 9-12 (Jets, Commanders, Falcons, Bucs, Texans) and the Las Vegas Raiders (6-11). The league’s top teams during the spookiest month of the year are the New Orleans Saints (15-4), Minnesota Vikings (14-5) and Baltimore Ravens (13-6).

Conversely, the worst NFL team in October since 2018 has been the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have posted a lowly 3-17 (.150) record during the month. Looking forward, the Panthers will look to climb the NFL’s October leaderboard this season against the Vikings, Detroit Lions, Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans — with the team’s first bye week coming on Oct. 22.

For Week 4, oddsmakers at BetMGM North Carolina list Carolina as a 3.5-point underdog against Minnesota in Week 4, with a moneyline of +145 for the Panthers. Fans of the club can hope that Reich and his staff can draw up the right mixture of X’s and O’s to get Carolina on the right side of the scoreboard come Sunday afternoon, as the Panthers look to dig themselves out of an early 0-3 hole.
