Best NFL Tailgating In The NFC South: Where Do The Carolina Panthers Rank?

Best NFL Tailgating In The NFC South: Where Do The Carolina Panthers Rank?
Fact Checked by Nate Hamilton

Itā€™s been a long decade for fans of the Carolina Panthers, who havenā€™t seen a playoff run since 2017 and are coming off the second-worst win percentage in franchise history.

Unsurprisingly, given Carolinaā€™s lack of on-field success, the Panthers ranked dead last in their division when it comes to gameday vibes, with the franchise pulling down a total score of 151 points to finish behind the next closest team in the NFC South (the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, at 154 points).

Sadly, for Panthers fans, it looks like that spot is where the franchise is bound to finish, as oddsmakers at FanDuel Sportsbook North Carolina list head coach Dave Canalesā€™ bunch at +1100 to win the division in 2024.

BetCarolina.com took a quick BBQ break from North Carolina sports betting updates to see what NFL teams have the best tailgating in preparation for the 2024 NFL season. Using Stadium-Journey.com and Sports-Reference.com, we created a scoring system factoring in food and beverage, atmosphere, fans, return on investment, and each teamā€™s record from the 2023 season.

Where Carolina Ranks in NFC South

Itā€™s likely of little surprise that the revelry-centric New Orleans Saints spanked their division rivals regarding tailgating excellence, with a total score of 204 points to rank well ahead of the No. 2 Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons finished with 168 points overall, ranking ahead of the aforementioned Buccaneers and Panthers for the second spot in the division, while looking up at NOLA on the tailgating leaderboard.

On the field, it looks like Atlanta has the upper hand in 2024, with FanDuel Sportsbook North Carolina giving the Falcons -115 odds of winning the NFC South, ahead of the Buccaneers at +290 and Saints at +350.

At least for Carolina fans, 2024 represents a new era for Panthers football, with a first-time head coach on the sidelines and a new start for second-year quarterback and former Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young in Charlotte this fall.
