The Carolina Hurricanes lost in familiar fashion to the Florida Panthers on Monday evening, dropping a 1-0 game in Game 3 to fall behind 3-0 in their Eastern Conference Final series.
Of all the games Carolina has lost this year, this one definitely hurt the most. Not only did it drop the Hurricanes into an almost insurmountable hole, but the way in which they lost had to leave Canes fans, bettors and players feeling hopeless. By limiting shots against and taking several of their own, the Canes were able to control the pace of the game but once again were done in by their inability to convert offensively. Carolina is now facing elimination for the first time this year and will have to win Game 4 as an underdog to bring the series back to Raleigh.
